Warning Signs During Pregnancy

• Visual Changes: blurring, double vision, spots
• Swelling: face, fingers, over the tail bone
• Upper abdominal pain or ache
• Repeated vomiting
• Discharge from vagina: such as blood / fluids
• Signs of infections: fever, chills, burning with urination, diarrhea
• Absence or decrease in movement of baby

Activity
Moderate Exercise: can strengthen muscles for labor and delivery. Check with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Fitness Activities: should be done at a slower pace. Keep your heart rate below 160. Brisk walking and swimming are excellent activities.

Avoid
• Alcohol
• Cigarettes: any tobacco
• Caffeine: coffee, cola, tea
• Any drugs or medications: without doctor’s approval

How to tell if your bag of water has broken
• Gush of water: from your vagina
• Constant: trickle of fluid
• Note the color: clear, yellow, green, brown, pinkish tinged
• Is there an odor? Call your doctor

How to tell true from false labor
True Labor: contractions are regular, get closer together (usually every 4 minutes); get stronger and are usually felt in your back and abdomen.

False Labor: contractions are irregular and stay the same intensity with activity such as walking.

Call your doctor: when contractions become longer, stronger, and closer together.

Fetal Kick Counts
Lay on your left side: and count 10 movements. If 10 are not felt in 2 hours, drink a sweet drink and eat a meal and count again. Call doctor if less than 10.
